This book series suffers from inconsistent writing, inconsistent tone, and a serious lack of direction. It wants to be a dark dystopia, but the dialogue and prose is goofy and quirky. Major events from previous books are usually forgotten by the next one in order to maintain the status quo. It's difficult to keep up with and Patterson can do a lot better.
