An enjoyable read for those who don't mind delving into Russia's cruelty. What passes as a joke in the series is very creepy, abusive and sometimes scary when seen from Lithuania's perspective. Yet, Russia is still really, really hard to hate. He comes off very charming and somewhat tragic, even at his worst. The characters seem to have this same problem with hating Russia, particularly Lithuania and Georgia. Also explores Russia's insanity, using Bloody Sunday as the trigger (just as in the comic). Sometimes the story IS a little over the top, and I wonder if the writer didn't have ideas they didn't use, because some things dangle. But the story really is worth it for the Bloody Sunday scene, both Revolutions, and the really strong portrayals of the characters. Lithuania's growth is interesting to watch as well.
