Checking the trope page, I was briefly confused by multiple references to “Garrett“ until I checked the link on the recap page. And that’s how I discovered it was also a self insert fanfic!

Yet another reason to avoid "rational" fics
When you have to rewrite an entire aspect of canon - in this case, the fact that morphs only contain the base instincts of whatever it is that the morpher acquired, rather than any kind of conscious mind or memories - you know that the author either didn't understand the source material, or just didn't respect it. Either way makes for a poor fanfic.
Of course the words "Inspired by Worm and HPMOR." should really be your first warning to avoid this.
