HG/SS: A masterpiece? Or overrated?.

A lot of people believe that HG/SS is the perfect remake, but is it really so? Let's check:

- Soundtrack: Brilliant, with catchy tunes and memorable tracks, the list includes (but is not limited to): Red's theme, Team Rocket's theme, Lugia's theme and the Legendary Beasts theme.

- Gameplay: It has some issues: Weird teams, boring Gym Leader teams and bad level curve, with the middle portion of it (badges 5-7) being all the same level, making the 7th Gym pretty weak.

- Story: Bland. Nothing happens in it. Team Rocket doesn't manage anything by the end and nothing else of interest happens, there's not even a climax.

- Characters: Also bland, one-note and boring. Neither Team Rocket's members, nor the proffessor's assitant nor the Gym Leaders evolve at all. They are the same from beginning to end. Silver does evolve but his climatic conclussion is locked behind an event Pokemon that not everybody could get.

- Post-Game: Also boring and bland, with the only meaningful things being the Battle Frontier, the Kanto Gym Leaders and beating Red. However, not only are those purely gameplay-only things (so if you were expecting more story then you will be dissapointed) but this also brings another problem: A huge level skip between Blue's Gym and fighting Red, with there no being any good location with Wild Pokemon on good enough levels to grind for Red. The BF is no good either because getting all the Symbols can become a chore.

Overall, it is a game with a lot of flaws, flaws that GF had the opportunity to fix but didn't.
