It's a bit difficult for me to explain why exactly Awesome Video Games is so well made, but when it comes down to it they knew exactly what they wanted to do and took it Up To Eleven in pure hijinx.
The actors of this web series in particular are just perfectly fit for their roles; Ace, Chet, and Dad all feel extremely genuine and believable and their performances are always full of energy no matter what scene they are put in.
That's not to say for the filming as well! Though it took a few episodes to really grow the beard the camera and editing techniques are perfectly in-line with the era they were trying to emulate and every time an episode opens up in that iconic gaming basement you'd think the show really was filmed in the mid 80's to 90's; the cinematography is just that well done.
If you're looking for a classic web series that, while cheesy at times, is honestly timeless the more you look at it, I cannot recommend this show enough.
