One of those fan works which transcends even the original canon it is based on and becomes a work of art in its own right, to the point where the characterization of these characters has become the basis for my own headcanons about them. I think the author does a really good job of addressing some of the problematic and toxic behavior patterns we see from canon without demonizing or discounting anyone, especially Bruce. He is definitely messed up, but he's still allowed to be a good person and a good father with some excellent and believable growth throughout the series. This series also introduces the delightful batdoctor Kiran Devabakhtuni, who is so good I wish he was canon- and this is coming from a reader who usually avoids OCs like the plague. He doesn't upstage the canon batfamily characters and slots perfectly into the universe as a welcome addition.
