So fun, I'd love if more was produced (v0.5.0)

This review was published when the game was in v0.5.0 (most likely the final update, but mentioning just in case).

  • Theme: A factory. Utilized very well in layers, upgrades, buyables, and challenges, with overall logical progression.
  • Gameplay and core mechanics: At first, you have to reset to get extractors that produce 1 ore/s each. You later get some extractor upgrades and buyables, as well as the furnace layer where you can divide ore gain for metals. You unlock a bunch of other resources with their own mechanics (they're all unique, also sometimes requiring you to manage how many options are active).
  • Balancing and difficulty: Average speed and slightly difficult. Factories require a bit of amount of thought in regards to their setup. There are some challenges which require thought, like The Upgrade Factory I challenge, as while it's somewhat lenient (especially if you have a generous amount of MP), it still requires a decent amount of upgrade knowledge and management). The game doesn't really have timewalls most of the time, but waiting for ores to grind up for the current endgame is gonna take a while even after maxing out everything else.
  • Content on offer: Standard length, the endgame can be reached in eight hours. Seven decent-sized layers.
  • Polish and miscellaneous additions: The game has a distinct font and interface style, making it more memorable in that regard. For some reason, the game often refers to points, even though they're clearly ores.

Overall, it's a well-made and polished tree with several cool ideas. If there's anything I'd want from it to be satisified, it'd be more content (there are some unused layers in the code, maybe we'll see that someday).

Overall rank: B (Good)
