Unironically Fun

Hey You Pikachu is an ambitious, but clunky experiment in gaming that utilizes a physical microphone for most of the important interactions. However! Once you learn and understand the game's limits (like how Pikachu's AI only responds to key words which are highlighted in red; something that Youtubers and reviewers alike tend to gloss over to make the game seem worse than it really is), it can legitimately be a pretty fun and casual experience.

My recommendation to get the best experience possible out of this title would be to not play with any set goals in mind; Hey You Pikachu is a simple, open exploration game where you're ultimately just here to spend a day with your zappy pal and mess around. Once you get past the prologue the game opens up tremendously and you're given a lot more freedom to do whatever you want, whether it be go fishing, do quizzes, go treasure hunting, or even just go on a field trip and explore the open, verdant fields.

Hey You Pikachu, while nothing groundbreaking, proves to be a decent and laidback experience.

I always wanted to bash my head into a wall whenever I watched any Youtuber complain about Pikachu not responding to their commands while actively ignoring that he will only respond to words that are color-coded red.

It doesn't necessarily make it a great game, but knowing that helps make the overall experience noticeably better.

Opinions are worthless if they're unbendable over time.
