Unrealized Potential

Dragon Ball Multiverse was good when it started out. Goku and pals in a tournament against multiple "What-If" universes is a perfect set-up. The art was gorgeous and the characters were in-character.

As the story continued, problems began to arise. Interesting concepts like the Tech-Warriors and Super Humans were tossed aside for more Vegito, Super Buu, and Bra. Even the Big Bad, XXI, has barely done anything since the story began in 2008.

Calling the pacing in DBM glacial is an insult to glaciers. Every other chapter leads to a prequel special focusing on the characters that interrupts the story and drags things out longer.

The tournament is constantly being interrupted by one character or another running rampant. The Majin Revolt arc ran so long that Dragon Ball Super was able to start and finish its own version of DBM: the Tournament of Power.

The battle between Bra and Gast Carcolh was my breaking point. They spent an entire chapter planning how the battle "could" go before the loser surrendered without moving an inch. It wasted everyone's time, both the reader's and the in-universe audience. Oh, and look! Two chapters of unneeded and unwanted prequel specials immediately after the non-fight!

Dragon Ball Multiverse could have been great, but it has squandered all of its potential. Who wins? Better question: who cares?

Interesting concepts like the Tech-Warriors

The Heloits haven't been "tossed aside", they are still in the arena and interacting with the characters.

for more Vegito, Super Buu, and Bra.

They are popular characters. Do you really expect that Salagir will see their popularity and keep them in the background instead of giving them more screen-time, as most people wanted?.

1.-) He's the big bad, you don't waste the actions of the final villain at the beginning of the work. You have to wait till the end of it for the big bad to pull his move.

2.-) It might look like it has been going for a long time but there are understandable reasons for this: Pacing and Real Life issues.

Every other chapter leads to Padding a prequel special focusing on the characters that interrupts the story and drags things out longer.

Remember that Salagir and co. do have a life outside of DBM and that they are doing DBM for free during their spare time. The Specials exist sorely to give Salagir and co. time to advance the Main plot and complete more pages, so that DBM never goes into a dry period. The alternative would be to not upload any pages at all and have long dry periods (made of literal months without a new page) without content.

The tournament is constantly being interrupted by one character or another running rampant.

I mean, DBM was also compossed of a good amount of the most popular Dragon Ball villains that have existed. Did you really expect that they would behave like good little children instead of going rampant trying to get their hands on all the Dragona Ball sets that are available?.

1.-) Again, it only went this slow because Salagir and co. cannot deliver the pages at a faster speed. They also have lives outside of DBM.

2.-) It was also a long arc because there were so many twists that needed to be told.

3.-) This also isn't new to DBZ, I will remind you that the Namek saga was equally as long as the Majin Revolt was.

The battle between Bra and Gast Carcolh was my breaking point. They spent an entire chapter planning how the battle "could" go before the loser surrendered without moving an inch.

The Imagination battles were there because there wasn't gonna be a fight. If they hadn't add that but instead had Bra just surrendering, then Salagir would have been criticized for not having them fight. No matter what, Salagir had no good option to take.

A lot of persons do, apparently, seeing how not only it has an active community to this day, but also how there are always a lot of comments to read.

I agree. It\'s squandered every good idea it\'s had and frankly, they don\'t deserve our patience anymore. Because it\'s been over 10 years and very little of note has happened.

I don't dislike Dragon Ball Multiverse, and in fact I respect the dedicated it takes to maintain a webcomic for over a decade long, but I do agree the series has problems that either never went away or got worse over time.

The Majin Rebellion Arc is where I ceased reading directly as a fan. It didn't really accomplish anything the tournament itself couldn't already have, there weren't any consequences that affected the tournament because everyone of note was revived, and the only thing lost was the most interesting character the webcomic itself had. Going on for longer than it needed too is just icing, even fans of the comic know about its pacing issues.
