Fails at being funny, fails at being informative.

Zero Punctuation is nothing more then the same tired trolling that you see on message boards spewed by 12 year olds about a video game they dislike. Spoken by a man that is living proof that just because you can make something, doesn't mean you're fit to criticize it.

It exaggerates tiny details to the point where they become absurd, and not the funny kind of absurd either. These points are so trifling and minor that many people don't even notice them.

Of course, that's just when he actually makes a point. No matter how minor. The other part the "reviews" is simple mindless railing about whatever he happens to dislike. If you see a game in a genre Yatzhee dislikes being reviewed, expect mistakes, Completely Missing The Point, and plain old lies.

I can get what Zero Punctuation spews out by going to some cesspool message board and looking at trolls, so why should I watch something that's actually giving a man money for such slop?

He's good at writing, as the Chzo Mythos and Mogworld demonstrate, so it's almost sad to see talent wasted with such puerile nonsense.

Some of it actually is funny, mostly with the way he summarizes the game's premise.

Kind of a wallbanger that he reviewed Far Cry 2 and never went over the annoying and tedious 20 minute drives.

...I'm guessing he bashed a game you really like and can't let it go.

"...I'm guessing he bashed a game you really like and can't let it go."

I'm so sick of seeing this attitude. It's as if no one is ever allowed to have a genuine negative opinion. I don't follow any internet review shows, so I can't speak to the substance of this person's claims, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me if there were people who honestly disliked this, because there's people who honestly dislike something.

Heck, as far as TV Tropes' review section goes, this isn't even close the angriest review I've seen.

And also: what possible reason would you have for reviving a two-year-old review just to attack its writer's good faith?

^Don't forget the fact that if you think he's being unreasonable, his fanboys will say "Oh, he's just exaggerating", as if it's impossible for him to genuinely hold an opinion that others might find unfair.

If you don't find him funny then his videos really have no value to you as he is an extreme case of Accentuate The Negative. You have to have seen enough of his content to get an idea of what he likes or doesn't like in order to get useful information out of his content. Even if he bashes a game you could then come away with "I understand what you didn't like but those are things I may like". But if you don't find him funny then you probably won't watch enough of his videos to get an adequate idea of what he trashes and what he praises, and why.

... And, since you said he "fails at being funny", I doubt you managed to stomach enough of his videos to get that level of understanding about the man, so the guy who said this: "...I'm guessing he bashed a game you really like and can't let it go", was probably right.

^Note that Croshaw harshly criticizes games that start out slow, but end up good. He thinks they should be enjoyable from the start, and sees little reason to continue playing a boring game for the promise of eventually being rewarded.

Tropesofknowledge's comment is still too accusatory and cold reading-like.

May I remind you that someone revived a 2 year old review just to make that dumb comment, and the only other comment was to call that person out? And then the review lay dormant again until you guys decided to revive the argument?

Let it die.
