Genuinely S(qu)ICK

While I only had the nerve to watch the anime and didn't read the manga, it provided me with enough impression to form a valid opinion on Alien Nine. Warning! MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!

What begins mostly as another moe action series turns disturbing really quickly. It doesn't even begin on a very positive note. I mean why are there freakin' aliens attacking a grade school of all places, ignoring all far more viable targets? And on top of that no responsible authorities bat a single eye to this.

In the very first episode we are treated to our protagonist Otani being more than reluctant to take on the job of an alien fighter and it only goes downhill from there.

Coming up next is a short scenewhich  of a school-wide physical exam with everyone, including girls is stripped from the waist up and a shady-looking male doctor takes measurement of the girls' chests. What the Precision F-Strike is the meaning of this. Is that supposed to imply something or what?

The alien-catching job quickly turns for the worse when the very first task ends up with the target alien being eviscerated, with chunks of its entrails flying all over the place and especially right into the girl protagonist's face. You don't even need to look at her face to know how grossed she is.

She quickly becomes being targeted by alien abuse for no damn reason. The crazy alien-toting boys who gang up on her are downright disturbing and it carries some really Unfortunate Implications of perverse sexual lust.

Everyone rubs in the "heroine's" face how much of a cowardly scaredy cat she is but let's be honest here. In reality anyone would be seriously mentally broken if forced to deal with this s**t. Even though said aliens aren't anywhere near as alien (they mostly resemble weird sea creatures) as in other sci-fi, the meta-implications are quite terrifying.

Whether it's friggin' concrete-piercing rebar shooting out of wherever do the aliens grow and store them inside themselves or the symbiosis implications of affecting the girls' bodies slowly transforming them to something alien themselves. It's only reinforced by how halfway through the show the protagonist trio gains freakin' Psychic Link, which only serves them to share the pain, fear and angst any of them is currently going through.

The anime squick reaches its climax whan Otani snaps and massacres every single alien on the school grounds she knows about. Including both the caged aliens and her comrades' symbiotes. All the while implied to be partially transformed into alien herself.

Also why the heck is the school keeping captured aliens on its grounds? Isn't there a more suitable place for that? I strongly doubt it.

Oh I forgot to mention, that the girls' homeroom teacher / advisor / whatever she is, is quickly revealed to the audience to not be quite human herself and having some seriously nefarious intentions. Turns out the aliens aren't assaulting the school on a whim. But whatever the reason is it remains a mystery.

I could go on about how one of the fighters gets eaten alive and whole by a giant lizard-like alien, which MindRapes her and everyone in the school, how it states it didn't even want to come to the Earth in the first place, how after finally being rescued the eaten girl no longer seems to be herself or how in the final ending sequence another fighter is found sprawled on the grounds, presumably dead judging by all the blood and entrails coming out of a hole on her tummy. But it would just be adding more crap to a pile of crap.

Seriously, if humankind is ever to come to contact with real aliens, we should not try to be too friendly with them and we should NOT couple with them even if the biology would make it possible. Nothing good will come out of it - not that humankind is entirely good in the first place. Our planet and the entire universe will punish us big time for it. Let this be a lesson to us. Only the Japanese are capable of producing such stuff.
