Red Notice

When I saw the thread on Netflix, I had low expectations. I know what kind of characters Ryan Reynold and the Rock plays, so I thought the movie would be all cringey jokes and little action. But I decided to give it a chance, and boy, I'm glad I did.

Even the intro defied my expectations, using low cinematic and dark lighting to create . It's only several minutes later when the comedy falls in, which was a nice surprise. All the chase and fight scenes are amazing too, making it ranging from pleasing to see, to totally cinematic.

Of course, I consider myself Genre Savvy, so I saw plenty of things coming. But I didn't predict The Reveal. That's the high point to me in the entire movie. There was so many Foreshadowing, so how could I not see it after a Rewatch Bonus? I literally jaw-dropped when the Wham Shot was set in. The cinematography around the awesome moments and Booth's reaction makes it even better.

I was also surprised Gal Gadot was in the movies, and even her performance amazed me too. It was way better than her performance in Fast N Furious. I may not seen many of the Rock's movies, I was also surprised that his character wasn't a muscular Cloudcuckoolander. But after the reveal, it suddenly makes sense. It's practically Foreshadowing in the casting itself. Nice job, casting department.

While I do think there could be ways that the plot could be resolved sooner, and even thinking it's an Excuse Plot to patch the main actors around for a fun action comedy, the story was overall well-structured, even with some might be thinking They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot that was brought down with the typical Ryan Reynold and the Rock humor.

The characters were amazing too. Man, so many Magnificent Bastard. Also with nice depth in their backstories, and I wished there could be more shown, especially with the two men's fathers. I would definitely work with them if I had the skills and flexible morals to do so.

Overall, while far from in love with it, I enjoyed it so much. It even made me excited for Gal Gadot's next performance. So here's my score: 8/10
