I only saw one trailer, that made it appear that Maleficent indeed was going to turn 'evil'. Based solely on the strength of that I decided to humor a family member and see it with her. Two minutes in I realized I had been had, that the movie wasn't going to be like that at all, but congratulations Disney, you sold a ticket.
The movie wasn't that enjoyable, but that's besides the point. Even if it had been a cinematic masterpiece I would have been disappointed. Conversely it could have been much worse but less annoying because I could at least have least seen an attempt to tell a story that was at least interesting in theory.
