Being invested on a fanfic that centers of a character with wasted potential is an interesting premise, but none of them quite made me attract more on the tale of Dosu Kinuta, perhaps one of the most interesting characters in the series that was killed off too early.
You may say that he may be too powerful due to sound-based jutsu, but his powers does make sense, as sound is a vibration that penetrates through solid objects, and thus Dosu's abilities make him dangerous. With addition of Dosu's canonical intelligence and it makes him even more threatening in this fic as the plot reaper is not present this time around.
The problems with this is that, because of his main goal to kill Sasuke, he can come off as kind of as a bit single-minded, cocky and overconfident. Although the battles are good, I personally don't like the final battle due to unnecessary details, though I assumed that the people behave more like canon. The biggest attraction of the fic for me is how Dosu's growth is illustrated throughout the story, and despite that he tries to throw a wrench, the grand scheme of things more or less just continues on its own. In the end, Dosu's final growth as a character made me become more invested with him and sometimes would just rub his efforts in Sasuke's face if the fanfic's canon and he is still alive.
Overall, this is fanfic may not be the very best of its Dosu-centric group, but it may be one of the best represented fanfic that I have encountered.
