Aeon 14 is good solid space opera with a comic touch

Aeon 14 is good solid space opera and calls back to Lensman, Star Wars, Trek, both tropewise and in conversations between the characters that reference 'historic' popular culture.

Overall, comparable to Hamilton's Reality Dysfunction books in terms of the tech level, higher as the Aeon books progress, though without as much of the overt Christian allegory.

Also comparable to the Brin Uplift Books in tone and general tech level of the protagonists. With regular humanity at a big disadvantage, as human, AI, and blended human-AI populations are having their own singularities and ascending, while still manipulating and interacting with 'lesser' humans and AI's.

The characters are fun, and some of the best parts are the dialog among crews on ships such as Sabrina and Intrepid. Lots of pew-pew, and fanservice for every taste. Nothing too explicit though, or more shocking than Cordwainer's Smith's Norstrilla.

Overall, military science fiction/space opera ranging from very good to okay. But there's a lot of it, and its great for binge-reading on Amazon during a long stay at home.
