An instant Christmas classic!

Wow... just.... Wow. My body's still swirling with feels from this movie. The Christmas spirit it got me into is still warming my heart hours after seeing it.

The animation is unbelievably gorgeous and unique, the characters are all charming and memorable, the comedy is on point, the pacing is great, and the heartwarming scenes will make you curl up hugging a pillow with tears in your eyes and lump in your throat. None of it feels forced or over-the-top, it's all genuine and just pulls you into every moment with all the care and heart Klaus has been given and gives you, the viewer, back.

If you needed to criticize anything about Klaus it would be that it's not without its clichés or predictable story beats, like oh, will the one beautiful woman the protagonist meets become his Love Interest? Will he be revealed as a liar to cause tension on whether or not his new friends will forgive him? Will he end up staying in the place he previously hated as he's had a change of heart and enjoys it there now? Does the brooding, silent character have a dead loved one he's mourning? These are all clichés that perhaps some viewers will feel are overdone, but honestly (to me personally at least) the story and characters are all so charming and engaging that I didn't care. They were all presented in a way befitting of the story, wholeheartedly making you believe them and pulling the movie along rather than dragging it down. Plus hey, it's a Christmas movie, so you have to expect to see some clichés here and there. What the film doesn't have is any unnecessary modern or childish jokes or references to "appeal to five year olds" or "today's teens" that often just serves to pull you right out of the movie and/or make you want to facepalm that "did they just do that?" No, Klaus stays grounded and mindful to its genre throughout and feels like it could very well have been made 20 or 30 years ago as today, which might be its true genius as that's likely what will give it its instant classic status and be watched and enjoyed every year for many years to come. I know for certain Klaus will be on my "to watch-list" every Christmas from now on and am already fighting the urge to see it again.

Please, watch Klaus and recommend it to everyone you know with children. Recommend it to anyone who just enjoys animation in general. So much love and effort was put into this film, it deserves to get twice the love and recognition back, and then some.

9/10 from me.
