Spectacularly bad

Really. I wanted to like this. Truly I did,

The base plot is interesting, and, despite some similarities to Arrival, is distinct enough to be worth a real chance.

That interesting core idea is mated with a decent setting, and a couple of threads of dramatic issues that could make a great discussion.

Unfortunately for all, the promise is buried under a morass of idiocy, banality, horrid writing, no characterization, and cliches. Bad cliches.

Its like someone took a 3 sentence precie of the script, threw it into a room filled with "got a C in a high school drama club, but hey, I watched MTV Real World for like, ALL THE SEASONS!" 20-something Instagram "influencers", and then just filmed whatever they said.

Seriously, there are exactly 3 actors out of a cast of two dozen that deserve a SAG card for being able to wade through the dreck; the rest are basically reality star quality "actors".

There's Monster of the Week drama. There's high school "dramatic conflict". I think I saw a review that pointed out any NASA college intern would have made a more competent crew than these folks. And certainly they'd be more professional. There's ass-pull technology all over the place, and not in service to the plot.

Not to mention the spaceship itself seems to have been designed by a 10 year old.

Whomever wrote this: go back to asking "Do you want fries with that?" - that's about your level of competence in this world.

Whomever green lit this after seeing the scripts: go back to reality TV, since you have no idea what a script actually is.

Whomever did the art/set/clothing design: I suggest you stick to advertising. Maybe trying to sell trinkets on late night Infomercials is where you will find your niche, cause it ain't here.

And Katee, honey, cash that paycheck and get yourself a better agent. Same for you, Justin.
