George Romero's original Night of the Living Dead (1968) was a masterpiece; chilling and focused purely on delivering scares. Dawn of the Dead (1978) and Day of the Dead (1985) were incremental steps downwards in quality, as Romero undercuts the scares through his need to shoehorn in his political soapboxing.
Land of the Dead is what happens when Romero gets to make a new zombie movie after a decade of people stoking his ego by claiming that Dawn and Day were visionary masterpieces.
This film is trash. It's characters are shallow, one-dimensional assholes, its plot is nonsensical, and its attempt to treat the man-eating monsters as somehow sympathetic, or even heroic, is imbecilic at best. This film is literally carried on the wings of Romero's laurels from his earlier films, and is not worth wasting your time on. The sequels are even worse.
Find something better to spend your time on. Like the CGI Resident Evil movies.
