This game can go to hell.

The voice acting is awful. The bosses are ludicrously hard. I went through an entire dungeon just to find that the villains already got the Plot Coupon. Then they walked away with no fight or anything. What did I go through all of that for? Why did the shy girl become a villain? That literally happened between scenes!

Also, if you're religious, then the writers hate you. I mean it. A character who starts an extremely destructive war in the name of wiping out religion in the neighboring country is treating as sympathetic for doing so. And the main characters take up his crusade to free the world from the evils of religion. Which is apparently so bad that committing genocide pales in comparison. Seriously, What the fuck? Did Pol Pot write this game? I'm not happy with the nigh-uniformly negative way religion is treated in JRP Gs, but this one crosses the line into being morally repugnant.

An addendum, because I do want to be a bit more evenhanded: The game does have some good design choices. The battle system plays like a more refined version of Skies of Arcadia and gives you a lot of flexibility, since you have a set number of action points for each turn and you can spread them out however you wish among you party members. The weapon system, which has you keep every weapon you get and allows costimization with a grid system, was definitely a unique touch and one I enjoyed. I feel a bit less... invective towards the game now, but I still strongly disagree with the game\'s themes and feel that the plot is the game\'s major weakness, with structural problems that I imagine would still stand out to those who do agree with the game\'s themes.

Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.
