I've been a Mega Man fan for my entire life, so when the show was announced, I was excited about the chance to share it with my 5 year old twin boys. As details became available I was... skeptical, to say the least, but now that I've seen it... It's not bad. I mean, it could be better, more faithful, longer episodes (10 minutes? Come ON!), but I find it telling that my primary criticism is that I want more, and more is not currently available. The choices that were advertised that made me slap my forehead and groan 'Oh, no, not this crap again' aren't a big deal in the ten minute format. The characters have personalities I like (with one glaring, snot nosed exception) and I'm surprisingly okay with Mega Man spouting off puns and literally high-fiving the voice in his head about them in the middle of a fight. The action is clear, the animation is good, it's bright and colorful, and most importantly my kids wanted to watch it all over again as soon as we were done, and I was perfectly fine with doing so. It's not perfect, but it was never going to be because I had unconsciously put all my fanboy expectations on it. For what it is? It's great, and I'm actually surprised to find myself eagerly waiting for more.
