If you have to read only one Harry Potter fan-work, make this the one. The whole strip is an affectionate dead-on satire/parody/commentary on the HP books that will have you laughing with almost every panel. Emily is the "Background Slytherin", the Author Insert character who avoids every single Mary Sue pitfall while neatly twisting, inverting, & subverting them — Emily's the overwhelmed fangirl who speaks for all of us, from her Sweet-Bibbling-Jesus speechlessness at first seeing Hogwarts to her applause at Snape's melodramatic flouncing to her yells of "NOW KISS!!" during Draco & Harry's confrontations. The cast also includes Wanda the Background Ravenclaw, Kevin the Background Hufflepuff, and Violet the Background Gryffindor, along with all the regular HP gang. Plot points, character quirks (and actor quirks), and world-building bits are all looked at, poked at, and neatly shown up as the oddities they are...and it's all (mostly) true-to-canon.
