In many ways, A Study In Gold is well written. However, it comes more as a Sherlock Holmes story with few changes and funny animals, rather than a fusion fic.
The biggest issue with the story is that you could replace Judy and Nick in this story with original characters. There is almost none of the original characters left. Yet, at the same time, they do not feel like they are Holmes or Watson either. As a result the characters do not fit like they feel either. Nicks character, who is supposed to be Holmes, especially feel like he is a memetic version of Holmes, rather than based on the actual character of Holmes.
Second issue is that of actual setting. Story could have, in many ways, be written as human characters with minimal changes. This leads to a result of setting not actually feeling like it is Zootopia crossover.
