The movie that made me love X-Men even more

X-Men were my second favorite thing about Marvel Universe (if my memory serves right). This movie just cemented this (also the reason I hate current Marvel Comics (not Studios, to which I feel indifferent at worst), since they are outright burying them for Inhumans).

Good:

  • Cast: Cast of the old and new? Super awesome. Especially Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Ian Mc Kellen, Evan Peters and James Mc Avoy. Though, it's a shame that some of the cast (both old and new) couldn't return for various reasons. Then this would have been THE ultimate superhero reboot film.

  • The whole bad future: The sheer bleakness and desperation found in no other superhero films.
I loved it. Thanks, Sentinels. All-powerful and many in numbers. They just easily surpassed Terminators as the scariest robots.

  • Focus on drama: Past section mostly focuses on drama, which I hugely appreciate. This probably made DOFP as one of my favorite CB Ms.

  • Villains: No need for words about Sentinels and Magneto badassery. Trask was not so bad either.

  • Characters: Charles and Raven for their character arcs, Quicksilver and Magneto for being awesome, Wolverine for being a mentor to his future mentor.

  • So many great moments: Worn down mansion of 70's, whole bad future segment, Charles looking through Logan's memories, then meeting up with his future self, Magneto's speech... It would take days to list them off.

  • Theme: Theme of hope is pretty inspiring and fitting for Charles's character.

  • Intro: It's just awesome incarnate.

Meh:

  • First Class cast, mostly dead or irrelevant: It's just... pretty disappointing.

  • Storm not getting more screen time: I understand the situation behind it. Still... Ororo deserved more.

  • Still some continuity problems: ...Yeah. It's not that big of a problem, however. At least for me.

I don't have many bad things to say about this movie. 9/10 definitely.
