The ideas, grammar, characterization, etc are done well, but the 'fic suffers from horrifying levels of bloat that drag down the pacing and make reading it a chore.
If you've been following it since the beginning, it's fine I suppose, but for a new reader it's current 1.3 million+ words puts it almost as long as the original work and longer than many book series.
It suffers from not having as much feeling like it's happening compared to the original.
