Treasure-Hoarding Fun

I have no idea where to start this so let's begin with the plot.

Wario reads a newspaper story about a pyramid full of treasure. Being Wario, he sets off to make a profit by collecting all the loot he can. That's the brunt of it.

So after one tutorial level, you're set loose in the pyramid, free to play through the 4 worlds in any order you please. If the nature world is too tough, go to the Eternal Engine. Your goal: collect the 4 key pieces to unlock new levels, lots of money because lots of money is better than not money, and even a few CDs to get some odd songs. Defeat the bosses at the end of the halls to earn some more treasures.

The game plays very well. Wario has a simple but effective moveset: a shoulder bash, a headbutt dash, a ground pound, and throwing whatever he can get his hands on. Special statuses return from the previous games, such as Vampire Bat Wario who can fly, Zombie Wario who can go through thin floors, and Springy Wario who can jump high. All these moves and more are going to need to be employed to make sure you get as much loot as possible.

The game itself is a bit on the short side. 18 levels and 4 bosses are waiting for you, although the levels are pretty long and there are different difficulties if you want a tougher challenge, as well as a score counter if you're a high scorer. All in all, a fun game that can last you a few days depending on whether or not you know what you're doing or going for all the treasures you can. And it's available on the Wii U Virtual Console if you don't actually own a GBA.

"Excellent!" - Wario
