Definite deja-vu

Watching this show for the first time, I had an indefinite but unmistakeable sensation of having seen it somewhere before, and that each one of the central troupe in the all-female cast was familiar from somewhere. not being able to place it was maddening. As was the feeling that I'd seen humour pretty like this on another show. I just could not pin it down.

when the name of Chuck Lorre came up in the credits as the show's creator, all became clear.

The reason why I thought I'd seen the female cast before is simple - in a way, they're all Penny from The Big Bang Theory. "Mom" is a group of four or five versions of Penny, with perhaps a little Bernadette thrown in for variety. All of whom are from alternate universes where Penny's life took different turns and she never met Leonard.

question - are all Chuck Lorre's sitcoms this interchangeable?

"Mom" is undemanding comedy with a vicious edge you don't usually see in American sitcom - but it isn't stellar. Three stars out of five.
