Review of the 0.3.6 version

Slime Rancher is a cutesy, colorful and largely peaceful sandbox game played in first person perspective. Your entire goal is to create your own ranch, where you can take care of various types of happy little slimes.

You are equipped with a vacuum gun that can suck in slimes and various other objects inside of it and then shoot them out, allowing for easy transportation. You can build several types of buildings, you can upgrade things, and you are free to roam the island in search of the more rare and elusive types of slimes. The slimes you put in your ranch require being regularly fed, and when you do feed them, they reward you with gems called plorts, which you can then sell for varying amounts of money. The money you get from selling them regularly changes, due to constantly shifting demand for various types of plorts.

The game is very relaxing and highly engaging, with enough content to keep you occupied for at least several hours. It took me about 20 hours of gameplay to find everything the current version has to offer, which I think is not bad at all, especially because the developers are promising more lands and more content to be added in future updates. The game does not offer any kind of ending as of now though, so you'll need to wait until later versions if you're interested in some kind of proper closure.

Despite the game's Early Access state, I don't really have much to complain about. The currently available amount of various types of slimes is decent, the amount of stuff you can build and upgrade is decent, and overall, the amount of content is pretty decent (I do find myself craving for more though, so I'm looking forward to future updates). The controls are responsive, the music is nice to listen to, and the graphics are really pretty.

I can only think of two big issues:

- One is that the game is pretty easy. Now, this isn't really a problem to me, since I like easy games, but if you're looking for a challenge, then this isn't a game for you. After about 5-6 hours of gameplay, I was able to figure out the way to gain more money than I could possibly spend, and there is practically no real threat to your life, aside from maybe being pushed into the sea or being too reckless when dealing with the few harmful slimes.

- The fact that you will constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY deal with the issue of not having enough space for items. Even after upgrading to max, you can only carry 4 different types of items (plus water), and the game doesn't even allow you to carry the same item in more than one slot, even if that slot is already full and the rest are completely empty. I found myself being constantly annoyed by this limitation and I really wish some future update will introduce some upgrades that will let you hold more items.

Aside from that, everything else is just minor nitpicks. Overall, I definitely am recommending this game, and am certainly interested in seeing how it develops.
