Skip it. Don't even acknowledge it's existence.

This series is bad. Plain and simple.

You can tell they stretched the budget for this series as almost none of scenes are well animated in the slightest. Fights are stiff and lack choreography, it does a poor job of showing off the cast's abilities, and Off Model is rampant throughout.

The series covers the first two games of the series, Blazblue Calamity Trigger and Blazblue Continuum Shift. However, it cuts out about 80% of the narrative from those games. Calamity Trigger is stripped down to literally two episodes; since its the first game of the series, its the one that establishes the setting and cast the best. The Anime completely glosses over this, so you'll be scratching your head wondering just what the hell is going on and why you should care. The Continuum Shift part of the series is slightly better due to having 10 more episodes to work with and does a better job at fleshing out the cast a bit, but it still pretty much removes all of the non-main characters from the series and kills any agency they have.

About the only thing this series has going for it is a slightly above average soundtrack. Some of which having remixes of the series` character themes, which I'll admit are pretty good.

But overall, this series was doomed from the start. It should tell you something when the preview at the end of the first episode mentions how badly games are translated to Anime most of the time. It probably only existed to coincide with the release of the third game and promote it. Blazblue is a series with a very intricate and detailed plot, that even if you played every game and read all of the extra material, you'd still have questions. Trying to tell the story of just the first two games in only twelve episodes just carries a poor adaptation.

So if you're planning on getting into the series? Just buy the games and forget this series even exists, you'd be doing everyone a favor.
