This fan fiction is among the remaining active few that is basically the answer to the very question that stormed out minds the moment it was revealed that Ryuko and Satsuki are sisters. And the answer in a nutshell: everything! And Maim de Maim does just that.
Most of all the characters (especially Mako and the Elite Four) are still well kept in character from the beginning of the story; the author just changed where they start out in all this is all (I.e. Nonon still loves classical music, Mako is still Mako, etc). Satsuki starts us off as a happy-go-lucky hash head, but a large portion of her canon traits are still there (willing to throw her life on the line for her friends, utter lack of shame for her birthday suit). Ryuko is generally kept in character as well, but it doesn't do her any favors (known to hold a vendetta over petty reasons, easily quick to anger). The most predominant change that was for the better was Nui wanting to lead a better life than what she did in canon.
So all in all, the grammatical hiccups aside, this is by far THE best Kill la Kill AU fanfiction that any can read; bar none. You try and show me what you would claim to be a better AU fiction and I'll show you a fool.
