The anime and manga adaptations don't do this series justice

If you were to review this series, do NOT judge it based on what you saw from the anime, or manga, adaptations for Madan No Ou To Vanadis. They both leave out a lot of content from the original Light Novels that basically takes away what this series' strong point was. Both adaptations are nothing but recaps of what the light novels portray.

As for the series itself, the strength of this series is the setting; playing out like a world at war with large scale battles going on to take over other kingdoms. The strategies described to move troops against one another is the highlight that captures your interest in the world to see how each battle unfolds, and the countermeasures they come up with to deal with said strategies.

The characters are pretty straight forward (some could argue that the clothes the Vanadis wear are too out there for this setting), and while there is some fan-service, it's secondary to the overall story, and is mostly there to satisfy the people that are reading just for the ecchi scenes.

I wouldn't recommend the anime or manga of this, but the Light Novels are an ok time-sink.
