Tries to be something more, but sadly just can't.

Starting this I'd like to say that I wanted this game to be good. I hoped it would be something like No More Heroes, where the absurdities are there for entertainment but the game is surprisingly deep and features real character development. And playing it I can say that I think someone was trying to do just that. The only problem is that they didn't succeed.

Combat is alright with you using specific buttons to target specific areas of your opponent and then rip the clothing off them when it's taken enough damage and there are quick time events and combo attacks to make it easier to strip opponents of clothes. Unfortunately combat also has its problems. It can be hard to tell where the heck your character is when fighting multiple opponents, and the damage you take versus the damage you inflict means that you rarely actually feel like a badass demi-vampire.

Sometimes the story has fair moments but everything happens surprisingly rapidly, some common sense moments like going to the police and how far you can trust someone appear and then are dropped, and the ending just drops on you. Note that I don't mean is comes quickly because the game is short, though it is that, but more as though the creators ran out of time and just rushed to give it an ending before sending it out to stores.

Characters aren't groan-inducing for the most part, but they also don't seem to shine very much. For the most part, they're just there to say things to you and play the role of their character. They don't do it badly, but the only character whose route I was at all interested in trying again was Shion's.

There are a number of sidequests and some are actually alright, such as crossdressing to trick a group of playboys before you beat the tar out of them, but those missions also just peter out. There's also frustrations from the lack of directional arrows and the time it takes for enemies to load.

And loading is tiresome here. It isn't long, but it happens very often because you have to keep going from place to place.

And there is one last major problem. At the time of this writing, there is a bug that will cause the game to crash, apparently when you obtain more items than the your inventory can hold. While far less problematic than my initial fears that it was caused by combat, this is still something that should have been caught.
