I can't believe I'm saying this, but this is a truly scary story. In the games, Marx, while no saint, is just a bad guy making a grab for power. Here, he's completely sociopathic. He starts off as just kinda weird, with difficulty interacting and empathizing. As the story progresses, however, he's shown more and more as a cold blooded monster. The scariest part though is how well the author writes him. Marx rarely get's that things that benefit him could be wrong, nor does he ever really grow as a character, both something found in real life sociopaths.
I highly recommend this, but do be warned, some moments will keep you up at night.
