So, would Bramblestar in Sq H count for Unintentionally Unsympathetic?
i sniff ground crayons and cheeto dust Hide / Show RepliesBecause I've seen enough ragging on him for me to think he qualifies for one
i sniff ground crayons and cheeto dustYeah, but he should also have an entry for the latter half of TNP. He knew his brother was training in hell with their evil dad and we're still supposed to take his side when he continues to spend time with evil dad and evil brother. Even after his sister tells him to stop. Like obviously he's a dumbass but there’s being an idiot and then there's knowingly training with your dead dictator dad
Sure, but I'm less sure about the TNP entry for Squirrelflight. This is a fan reaction, but still.
i sniff ground crayons and cheeto dustOn Abandon Shipping, is Bumblestripe/Dovewing also a good entry? Nowadays it's very unpopular because of the way Bumblestripe treats her in AVOS, but I'm not sure how popular it was pre-AVOS
Edited by CelestialMacaw i sniff ground crayons and cheeto dustWouldn't Ashfur's Jerkass Woobie section be better classified under Woobie Destroyer Of Worlds? He isn't a jerk and also a woobie, he's a villain led there by his woobieness
So, should we make Base-Breaking Character its own page? It's getting pretty thick.
Hide / Show RepliesShould there be a Karmic Overkill entry for Frecklewish? As far as I can tell, most people don't like her but agree that putting her in Cat Hell is way too cruel for what she did. Then again, I could see it becoming Flame Bait, and I'd rather avoid it if given the chance.
Hide / Show RepliesYeah, I think there's a consensus that Frecklewish did bad, but not Dark Forest bad. Calling Mapleshade's kits "half-Clan creatures" is generally acknowledged as indefensible, but as Moonkitti and others have pointed out, there was no reasonable way she could have saved the kits from drowning and she only attacked Mapleshade after being provoked. I've also seen Russetfur, Rainflower, and Ashfur cited as getting into StarClan despite them respectively refusing to help Berrykit out of a fox trap, being an abusive mother, and attempting straight-up murder; in comparison, insulting some kittens once is a pretty minor crime.
Edited by NineTailedCat I like cute things. You gotta deal with it.is there a trope for every character in a work all having utterly godawful names?
Hide / Show RepliesProbably not, since bashing and whining about works is not what this wiki is about. If You want to complain, writing a review is Your best choice.
Ok, as per What Goes Where, YMMV tropes are not supposed to be listed on Character Sheets, so I'm moving them from there to here.
However, I'm not really sure if all these tropes apply, so I wanted to get second opinion before removing some of them:
Thunderclan:
- Firestar:
- Marty Stu: So many characters are called Sues in the fandom that taking its opinion is meaningless. If we go by fandom opinion we may as well place this tag on half the characters.
- The Scrappy: He has pretty sizeable fandom(maybe even bigger than his hatedom), so I don't think it applies.
- Whitestorm:
- Too Cool to Live: Not sure?
- Jayfeather:
- Ensemble Dark Horse: He can't be a darkhorse if he's a main character. Removing.
- Daisy:
- Stayed as The Scrappy on Character Sheet, but is she really a scrappy in-universe? Whoever added that could elaborate more there.
- Ivypool:
- The Scrappy / Resuced From The Scrappy Heap: Ivypaw as scrappy in Fading Echoes? I've observed pretty much the opposite reaction, where at the times of Fading Echoes everyone went like "Ivypaw is evil, Ivypaw is awesome", and after Night Whispers people were disappointed by her Heel–Face Turn and how she is now boring. But I still don't think she is disliked to the point of being The Scrappy.
- Bumblestripe:
- The Woobie: How can this trope be subverted? I think it's just plainly averted, so I'm removing it.
Rest of the clans' character sheets should be cleaned of YMMV entries as well.
Hide / Show RepliesFirestar/Marty Stu: I do think this fits him, to some degree. He's "special"/subject of a prophecy, he had natural talent for hunting/fighting, he was made deputy and leader at a young age, has had three she-cats either in love or having a crush on him (Spottedleaf, Sandstorm, Cinderpelt)... yeah.
Firestar/The Scrappy: Agree with you - His fandom is much bigger than his hatedom. For example, I did a poll on the OF, and one of the questions was "do you like Firestar". Out of 225 responses, 93% have loved him at some point, and 67% still love him now (25% said that they liked him better in the first series than now). (The remaining 7% was people who have never liked him or who have only read Seekers and not Warriors.)
Whitestorm/Too Cool To Live: I'd say leave it on there, he's one of the most popular characters in the series.
Jayfeather/Ensemble Darkhorse: Agree.
Iypool / Scrappy: I'd say leave this one too. I actually saw the opposite of what you're describing. People were saying how annoying and whiny and jealous she was in the first few books, but then after Night Whispers they were glad she's finally seeing sense and she's a valuable, brave spy rather than just an irritating apprentice who does nothing but complain about her sister.
Bumblestripe/ Woobie: Agree.
Edited by DawnwingI also saw the reverse Ivypool reaction. At least on the Official Forum, many people didn't get around to liking her until Night Whisper.s
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"
Unintentionally Unsympathetic is getting kinda long, should it get its own page?
