Do we have a YMMV (or trope) for how an adaptation can water down the impact of a character in the original? I'm thinking the Spirit of Hearth's Warming Yet to Come would have been far more imposing had she remained The Voiceless, with Snowfall interpreting the visions as Scrooge did in the original. Probably would have been considered to frightening to the shows target audience though.

Badass Decay is the closest thing that pops up in my mind.

Badass Decay applies within the original work though, doesn't it? I was thinking of a subtrope of Adaptation Decay. Something along the lines of They Changed It, Now It Sucks!, but more like "they softened it, but it's still good".

Disneyfication maybe?

Adaptation Decay only allows for In-Universe examples, but I don't think Disneyfication applies either, as it wasn't exactly bowdlerised or made heavily L Ighter And Softer; after all, it's not like it was implied that there would have been many survivors from the Windigos.
