So I posted in the Gundam thread a while back that this page seems oddly overly complimentary to Try's reception which, from what I've seen, is at the very kindest is "it's almost as good as GBF" and even that seems to be an overwhelming majority to "it's not very good." This may have something to do with the fact that at least the Tough Act to Follow entry was clearly added during the show's original run. I sorta dropped the issue since I hadn't seen Try yet and no one really seemed to care either.

  • Contested Sequel: Opinions are split on whether or not Try is just as good as the first season or doesn't live up to its predecessor. See Tough Act to Follow below.
    • I've literally never heard anyone say it's as good as the first season. Even complimentary reviews I've seen were "it was good... but worse than GBF." As such I'd like to change this to Sequelitis rather than Contested Sequel since it's nigh unanimously considered inferior, even by those that defend the show.

  • Tough Act to Follow: Gundam Build Fighters being so well-received means that some fans and reviewers are tougher on Try than they would otherwise be.
    • The biggest complaint so far seems to be how Try is putting more focus on the qualifying battles compared to the original which quickly breezed through the qualifiers and spent more time developing characters who would later appear making fans feel as if interesting characters are being wasted in the qualifiers instead of being saved for the nationals.
    • As the show is approaching its final 6 or so episodes, some of the complaints are mirroring those of the ones Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ got compared to Mobile Suit Zeta Gundamnote , in that it feels completely different to the previous show and that it's not a worthy sequel compared to the previous one.
      • So, my issue with this entry is that it's entirely dismissive of seemingly legitimate criticism of the show. I agree Tough Act to Follow applies and people are likely harder on this because of it, but I'd like to rewrite it without glazing over the actual flaws of the show, especially since the first bullet point absolutely is not biggest complaint that I've been hearing about the show.
