I'm considering deleting this one:

  • The Joker's psychiatrist is portrayed as delusional and the film implies he is at least partially responsible for The Joker's massacre. While he may be naive, it is hard to fault the Doctor for attempting to reach The Joker and help him deal with his psychosis (You know, that thing psychiatrists working with the Criminally insane are supposed to work towards).

Two reasons as to why:

1. For starters, the comic doesn't portray Dr. Wolper as delusional for wanting to help the criminally insane. It's pretty well established that the comic's criticizing him for not consulting the idea that maybe these criminals are responsible for their own crimes. Notice how he always blames the actions of his patients on Batman. He never stops to think "If harvey is still committing crimes after all the treatment I gave him, then perhaps he's truly beyond saving." Instead it's always Batman's fault. Batman was the one who prompted Harvey to go on a crime spree. Batman was the one who convinced Harvey to put on a mask and call himself Face.

2. The other thing is, it's the Joker! You know, the complete monster clown who's killed (probably more than) 600 people?! The guy who's been given several therapist after therapist and yet constantly manages to screw them up? The guy who quite blatantly stated that he was going to kill every single person in that talk show area?! I'm sorry but if you still honestly think that the Joker is able to be saved then you are somewhat delusional.
