I'm tempted to add "Named by the Adaptation" since the appliances didn't have actual names in the book, and were just referred to as "the toaster", "the lamp", "the blanket", etc. And You Don't Look Like You since their designs in the film are significantly different from the illustrations in the book. Also, I was going to say that the new appliances aren't exactly "villainous" until I remembered that the lamp kicks them out of the window and into the dumpster, which is just malicious! A literal Kick the Dog moment.
Edited by MrStranger616This film sure seems to be liked on this site!
I only remember seeing a handful of previews for it as a kid, and it's not discussed much. So...what exactly makes it so popular here?
Hide / Show RepliesUm...hello, anyone going to explain to me why it's so overated on this site?
Discussion pages move slowly, if they're responded to at all. People may not know the answer. Maybe it's popular because it's good, it's something they like, it's something they remember seeing as a kid... who's to say it's overrated? It could also get a lot of crosswicks because it's easy to trope it. If you want to have a general discussion about the work itself, try opening a thread in the Western Animation forum.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Okay, this has NOTHING to do with the topic at hand, but I totally read the moderator's reply in the Radio's voice. And it was awesome.
Is changing the gender identity from "genderless" to "male" a Gender Flip, or is that something else? In the book, they insisted they were "Its", also an inversion of "It" Is Dehumanizing since they specifically asked to be referred to that way. Obviously due to them having No Biological Sex. They're objects, not animals.
