“Surprisingly Realistic Outcome”? As a man who’s witnessed guns explode, is pals with gun owners and more, that is an exaggerated explosion. There are .50 caliber sniper rifles who don’t explode as big and their bullets are much bigger. Shown in https://youtu.be/1449kJKxlMQ
Homelander heated what appears to be an AR pattern firearm and the explosion from the ammunition cooking off is closer to a grenade than a feasible explosion from ammunition cooking off and a gun exploding. This is closer to artistic license physics. Unless we assume the dialogue is wrong and Homelander’s heat vision did most of the explosion, the gun explosion should be nowhere near that much. Even if all the ammunition cooked off.
