Why is it that people blame disney for the "historical inaccurate" Pochantas story. People need to put blame where it really lies—with the REAL John Smith. He's the one who invented the so-called love story (and I believe called Pochantas by then Rebecca Rolfe a princess).

Once Pocahontas decides to save John, with her magical compass that spins a million ways and then points the sun rise (east) — effed up compass, she runs towards it (also, the ocean) but then later she's running away from it. Anyway, not sure of the trope that handles silly mistakes as it doesn't go on the sliding scale or any other. Anways.
"Translation Convention: The Native Americans hear Powhatan as English." This isn't what the Translation Convention is — this is an interpretation of the Translation Convention. Can the example be rewritten in a way that allows the trope to be open to interpretation?
