I just watched the first episode of season 3 and... It's actually good? Venom was menacing, the way Spidey defeated him didn't bend over backwards to tell us how smart he was but let us infer it based on his creativity. It's less goofy, the actions of the characters make sense given the setting and what's happened to them previously. Peter's bad luck isn't the result of any characters being hit with the Idiot Ball and hating him for a convoluted reason, it was him forgetting to apply for college tours. Has the show finally found it's stride?
Maybe we could change the article's title to Spider-Man 2017. Wonder Woman (2017) and Justice League (2017) have their years of debut in their titles, so this could be done to Spider-Man as well; besides people already know Spider-Man is owned by Marvel so this is redundant.
Hide / Show RepliesThe show is officially called "Marvel's Spider-Man", much like how the other current Marvel shows are called "Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Marvel's Avengers Assemble/Ultron Revolution/Secret Wars/Panther's Quest".
Yeah, but their titles here on TV Tropes don't include the Marvel part, do they?
The Avengers Assemble tropes page oddly titles the show "Avengers, Assemble!", despite the show's title being nowhere styled that way, so taking liberties isn't always the best thing.
Redundant as it may seem, that's how it's officially called in any advertisement or product for the show. Adding the year at the end is only there if the official work's name doesn't make a distinction between a similarly titled work of the past. The fact that this Spidey show has "Marvel's" attached to its name is enough.
Spider-Man 2017 can be its redirect name, if anything.
Edited by XMenMutant22I pulled this from Age Lift:
- Also played with, in a different sense, with Clash. Canonically, Dan Slott Spider-Man, where he was introduced, established Clayton Cole as being the same age as Peter. The only difference between here and in the comics as this show features a rookie Peter, we meet this Clash as a teen and not an adult.
Clayton's first appearance was in a Year One type story, which retconned him as clashing (sorry) with Peter when they were indeed both in high school.

In this series, John Jameson turning into the Man-Wolf happens offscreen when he is studying the lunar crystal, so can Transformation Discretion Shot be included? I added this trope.
