So the page urls were updated ages ago. Which means all current links that are like numbered just lead to the current page. And it's a bitch finding them. So if anyone wants to pitch in, feel free.
Yo folks, a little bit of help here? I'm thinking of how to put into the page the revelation that Headless Bliss is Lillian's story. It's It's neither a spin-off nor a show within a show, and it's not a case of recursive reality either. There must be a trope that's appropriate here, but I've no clue which one. Any suggestions?
RE the entry for the twins under Shipper on Deck - as is, it's a Zero Context Example. If they're this for Roomie/LT, then it makes no sense for them to not be on that first line along with Allan. If it's for more than one person, then the entry needs to state who it is.
Thinking about the deconstruction of Manic Pixie Dream Girl that is Roomie: would this make it an outright Inverted Trope?
Quick question re: this bullet:
- Incompatible Orientation: Lillian is Asexual but not aromantic. Roomie is, despite being pansexual.
I was under the impression that Lillian being asexual and Roomie being aromantic was fanon, not confirmed in-comic or through Word of God. Am I missing something?
Hide / Show RepliesAfter I commented out the entry, I found the comic that I think inspired it - finally got around to editing in the link.
Rereading the archives, I was just thinking about how to classify Evelyne's whole "I don't like you but I'll be nice to you" schtick, and came upon Tsundere as the relevant trope ... and then found that Lillian was listed as one.
I don't see Lillian as an example of that. Tsundere seems to imply a lot more proactiveness than Lillian demonstrates in her non-friendly moods — I feel like Sugar-and-Ice Personality (which is mentioned in the description) is the actual trope that fits.
Hide / Show RepliesSince I don't want to keep up the edit war, I and the troper who added the Twincest example are discussing this in PM, but I don't think it ought to be between just us two - does anyone besides that person think that Ramona and Richard's dialogue in the 8/30/12 update is meant to give the impression they're sleeping together? Does anyone who doesn't think that find it a reasonable enough interpretation that it should be kept with a caveat?
Edited by TwinBird My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger. Hide / Show RepliesThe troper who added the Brother–Sister Incest example has opted to ignore me in PM. They seem to feel that Richard's description of himself as "being a sub and having a dom twin sister" is sufficient to declare that the two are having sex with one another; I really don't think it is. I really don't want this to turn into an edit war, but I also don't want such an ugly trope listing on a page for such a lighthearted comic when it doesn't appear to be accurate. I was about to remove it a third time, but I decided to go to ATT instead, but again, does anyone else have an opinion on this? Please?
My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger.I know it's over a year after, but since I just finished an Archive Binge today: I see nothing in-story that indicates that Richard and Ramona are anything with each other beyond siblings. Richard is shown on many occasions to be a sub, and Ramona has evidenced her being a dom several times, each in circumstances away from the other. Also, they don't have any interactions with each other that would hint at an incestuous relationship. They might share a bed at Lillian's, but that could just be a circumstance of their living conditions, and the quote from Richard in question is just a statement of fact...interpreting it as anything further is just silly.
A lot of these comments seem to be talking about early/late strips... does anyone else get the feeling we're still in or just out of the establishing phase of the strip? Those "early" strips just seem to be a short introduction...
My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger. Hide / Show RepliesExamples Are Not Recent... but this page was created before the policy was made official.
"Recent" and "early" aren't really the same... (or rather, of course they're not the same, but they're not really in the same category).
The thing is that it seems pretty clear that LT and Allan were part of the original concept - mention of "early" strips seems to refer to the 40 or so before they first appeared, and since we're just now meeting Allan's fiancée, I get a definite feeling we're in the opening chapters. I don't think, nor can I find anything to suggest, that describing installments as "early" and "later" necessarily violates Examples Are Not Recent, but my point is that, to me, "early" suggests before some change to the initial concept, and it seems to me to be that that's what's still unfolding. It's true it's been two years, but sometimes it takes that long - Grrl Power, I think, has been running almost as long, and it's definitely still setting the stage.
Certainly I don't think Matt was ever meant to be Roomie's primary Foil, for instance, until LT was "added," as some examples seem to imply.
