What's with the obsession with the Tricos horns being used to control them? It seemed pretty clear from the game that it was the helmets that granted control.
Hide / Show RepliesThe helmets don't control Trico and his kind as they're more for protection and intimidation. Those strange blue-colored artifacts that appear in some chambers resonate some kind of mind control that takes over Trico and his kind.
And where are you getting that from? The only constant with the 'mind controlled' Tricos are the helmets. No horns, one horn, two horns, we see all of those running around with only minor problems close to artifacts, but all the permanently controlled tricos have helmets.
I mean, the kid gets mind controlled in the flashback, and he's got neither horns nor helmet. Mind control just seems like something the master of the valley can do.
Edited by JohnDoeWhen Trico was returning to the Nest after abducting the Boy, the spears in their side attached lighting which struck Trico and sent them crash landing back into the ruins. I believed that the lighting or the crash landing had damaged Trico's horns, which allowed them to break free from the Master of the Valley's influence. Plus, Team Ico has a thing for horns and there's no doubt that horns would play a big role in the game.
If you watch when Trico is being controlled by a chamber, you can see that the horns are reponding to the mind-controlling waves by emitting little waves indicating that the two are connected.
Hah, Team Ico's horn obsession I'll grant you, and I didn't notice the resonance first time through. I still find it much more consistent if it's the masks, not the horns, but at least I understand why people think that now.
On the other hand, even after the beast has grown his horns back, he seems to be immune.
Funny/Tearjerker/Awesome pages
As the top line states, there don't seem to be any pages/tabs for The Last Guardian specifically focused on Funny, Tearjerker, or Awesome moments. I have a few suggestions for each of these categories.
Tearjerker: >The moment where Trico was severely injured after his/her fight with the second Trico. That's a pretty dramatic moment since players would fearfully think that Trico was dead or dying. >When the dozens of Trico's species are dropping like flies or stepping off the white tower after the boy destroys the malevalent Master of the Valley. I know that it would seem hard for some who watch in horror as some of them were viciously attacking Trico and the boy, but for players who have a passionate and genuine love for animals watching that would be considered horrifying for them. >The boy sending Trico away after he/she brings him home to his village. >Some would consider the Master of the Valley acts of enslaving and controlling dozens of members of Trico's species as animal cruelty. It would be cruel for them since they were being forced to take orders from the Master.
Funny: >During moments when Trico's smacking around the Armored Knights like they were toy soldiers. >When the boy is pulling the head off an Armored Knight, the latter flails about as if it was going "Hey, cut it out! I'm losing my mind!" >There are rare moments in the game where Trico will sometimes defecate and the old man narrating will give an...interesting response to it
Awesome: >The spectacular visuals of the Nest ruins throughout the game >The sequence where Trico and the boy are travelling across the first set of scaffolding >The moment that Trico first takes flight in the game.
Strictly speaking, Trico is the name of the species. The boy just refers to him as "the beast" in the narration. The page, however, almost consistently uses Trico as a name. Should we fix this?
