Tales of Vesperia, for example, is literally the story of the adventuring group Brave Vesperia, from their origins to their greatest adventure. Tales of the Abyss is a story about the world above an abyss, and the danger of it sinking back into such.
The original game was called Tales of Phantasia largely for Rule of Cool, however.

Is there a description somewhere of the meaning of each of the games names? They seem kinda random.
