So far, there's a discussion on the same topic on the characters page, the YMMV page, and ask the tropers page. I was the one who asked on the tropers page. They said if it's not stated within the work, then the tropes don't apply. Everything that's said from the creators should be under Word Of God in the trivia page. Anyway, some kind of consensus was reached on the characters page.

The bigger problem is that it's very doubtful that this shipping is explicitly canon anyways. The argument for its validity is basically entirely riding on some interview translation on a tumblr page, which is both full of confirmation bias and does not even cite its source so that other people can confirm it.
Just thought I'd drop a friendly little notice that someone decided to edit out most of the text that explicitly mentions Sorey and Mikleo as a couple. I hope I'm not the only one upset about that, cause even if it is queerbaiting, same sex couples are kinda a big deal to a lot of people. Especially when it's the protagonist.
