Hard to say. Even though the Xbox console officially released in November 15, it had working prototypes known to the public as early as 1998.
If I had to guess, I would say no based on the fact that most of Opera's weapons have the "Box" suffix anyway (Booster Box, Gamma Box, etc). In mathematics, X is used to represent the argument or input of a function. Hence, the name likely serves a reference to an unknown or unsolved variable.
