What is a Constantine Curse and why was it on this page?
Don't make me destroy you. @ Castle SeriesThere probably isn't one, but if there was, then the Prototype page must have beaten the record for most links to I'm a Humanitarian in a single page. I've seen the link literally more than a dozen times in a page that to be honest could be much longer.
I'm just gonna throw it out here that it was not Alex Mercer who said "I wasn't paid to feel". Check Dr. Joseph Schulze's entry on the Web of Intrigue and that's most definitely not Barry Pepper's voice.
I don't wanna make a mess of things, so I'll just let you folks decide what you're gonna do about this.
This page is a mess, bloated on personal takes on the series that ignore most of what happened in the game and word of god. The Alex in the game is the original. The Web of Intrigue isn't a reliable source of information as its pointed out that after Black Watch figures out what's going on with Alex its suggest that they start feeding him false information.
Hide / Show RepliesHow is absorbing the memories of people an unreliable method of information? Only if they don't know something will it be unreliable. If they personally know something then Alex would know if it's a lie or not.
Unclouded TJ: Taking Bunny-Ears Lawyer too literally.Yeah, even if they knew he could do that, it's not really possible to fake a memory.
And could you show us some of the "personal takes on the series that ignore most of what happened in the game and word of god?" Kind of hard to fix if you don't actually give us an example.
Edited by KrisMahai “Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”The Alex in the game is the original.
No he isn't. And the source of that information wasn't the Web of Intrigue, it was McMullen, Cross and then Alex himself. "Alex Mercer died...died trying to release the most deadly virus the world has ever seen. And now here you are..." "You're not human. You're the Blacklight virus." "The virus didn't just kill him, it became him. It...became...me. I am the virus. ... Part of me was relieved...and part of me died. Just another disguise, right? So ingrained...so real. Even I believe it."
All of that was in the cutscenes. Narrated over things like photos of Alex's past burning up to represent the loss of his identity. Rosman himself said that Alex was the Blacklight virus in a human corpse; if you want me to find the interview, I will.
Edited by NanoMoose You know, if I could click you, you wouldn't know a moment's peace.^ ...Where does it say that? Because yeah, that's wrong, and it needs to be fixed.
Edited by KrisMahai “Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”It's not in the article, thankfully; just pointing out that the OP seems to think that's one of the uh, "personal takes" that "ignore most of what happened". If that's their idea of a mistake...
You know, if I could click you, you wouldn't know a moment's peace.Huh. Well, it's hard to say until the OP actually shows up, so I guess we'll just wait.
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”You all do realize that one of the guys form the company out right stated that Zues is Alex all the way up to the nuke at which point the person we saw at the end may or may not be him. Its supposed to be one of the questions being answered by the new game so there's really no way to argue against it.
Secondly, are you guy actually trying to say that its impossible to fake memories if those its a common problem that people face daily? You're view of reality is kind of off.

And even thinking that something that happens in real life as impossible you have to understand that the person making this claim is being made by the evil mad scientist so its not hard to believe that he could have found away.
Edited by Ether101PrimeOk assuming it's possible and reasonable that they implanted fake memories into soldiers and reporters why would they need to? Also assuming they knew the whole time that Alex could read memories why would they go to such extremes to make him think he's the blacklight virus and not Alex Mercer? It doesn't make sense to go to that much effort and intentionally having people eaten just to give him that idea.
Unclouded TJ: Taking Bunny-Ears Lawyer too literally. My point is not that planting fake memories is impossible. I'm sure they'd just find some poor expendable sucker, tell him a whole lot of bullshit, then leak said sucker's whereabouts along with the idea that he has sensitive information. My point is that Alex did not learn he was Blacklight from stolen memories; he learned it from McMullen, and then Cross, when he spoke to them personally. And then Alex confirmed it himself, in a lengthy narration.
And here's that interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTjXH9HfTyg Ken Rosman. "He's not Alex Mercer, he's the Blacklight virus in Alex Mercer's form." I've seen the one you spoke of, Ether, and the phrasing is more ambiguous (and less thought-out) that you suggest - Rosman said they wanted to "hint" that the Alex at the end of the game "might not be the real Alex". Whether that was the result of reconstructing himself after being blown apart, his infection, or his death in Penn Station, Rosman doesn't say. Which, to me, sounds very much like he was being purposely vague or that he misspoke. Either way, there's a lot of evidence (if you need to call the game stating it outright more than once "evidence" as opposed to "blindingly obvious fact") that Alex is not the original, spiteful mad scientist bastard Alex, but the Blacklight virus animating that man's corpse and assuming his name.
Edited by NanoMoose You know, if I could click you, you wouldn't know a moment's peace. This page is already pretty big (I never thought THIS would gain Troper Critical Mass), and now we're also adding Protottype 2-stuff. Should we split this and create a VideoGame.Prototype 2 -page?
Hide / Show RepliesIt's inevitable that there will be a Prototype 2 page so we may as well make it while it's still in planning stages.
Unclouded TJ: Taking Bunny-Ears Lawyer too literally. What was the reason this was changed to the video game section? I'm just curious.
Unclouded TJ: Taking Bunny-Ears Lawyer too literally. Hide / Show Replies.....because it's a video game?
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Are we in the process of moving all video games to a Video Game section of the site? I didn't realize that was the case.
Unclouded TJ: Taking Bunny-Ears Lawyer too literally. We're in the process of moving all works to their appropriate namespace. Apparently, it's been the preferred format for a while, but it's only recently that pages have actually begun to be moved.
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”
Should this game be added to the Slime, Snails, and Mutant Tails trope?
