So that would explain it... see, I looked up the name "Hershel" in a baby name book and it said it is Hebrew for "deer". I was expecting a Meaningful Name, being English in origin and would mean something like "tea" or "puzzles." So I was pretty confused to find that such an obviously British man had a Hebrew name. Every puzzle has an answer, indeed.
Edited by cupfulofeathers Every puzzle has an answer. The Japanese katakana for his name is "erashel" or "erashelu" (エラシェル,) and the English version of the name is missing the "C" it normally comes with, so it could be Spell My Name With An S. Come to think of it, a lot of names in the series don't seem to be English in origin— Jean-Descole, Mont D'or, Folense / Faux Lense, and Saint-Mystere are French, and Reinhold, Schrader, Anton Herzen, and Gressenheller sound Germanic.

Edited by AkivaraThe title "Professor Layton and the Flute of Malevolent Destiny" has been announced, which pretty much de-confirms all speculation that the fourth game will not be released outside Japan.
Does anyone think that there should be another picture at this page? I mean, because Last Time Travel is released in Fall.. (Probably, it still isn't confirmed)

Apparently Professor Layton's first name comes from Sir William Herschel, who started using fingerprinting for identification. I have no idea what this would fit under, just thought it was cool.
