The page is not locked, it's nonexistent, cut because it was nearly all complaints.
We should wait until it is officially released, so we can be sure any negativity is unjustified or not. Creating the page but keeping it looked, requiring edits be approved, should be a fair compromise for having the page approved while keeping is from being overly negative.
So, the YMMV page is erased because of... people's opinions? Isn't that the whole point of a YMMV page?
Death Stranding has a page, and that game doesn't have a set release date beyond "before 2019". I don't get the decision to nuke this one when several things that won't come out much later than this have them(and I don't mean that they should be axed, too).
YMMV is for documenting audience reactions, not a platform for tropers to express their personal opinions. Unfortunately, YMMV is used as a way to complain a bit too often, and it shouldn't be. Not having the YMMV page until the game has been released for a while is the safest way to keep people from using the YMMV to complain.
The problem was that the page was used excessively for complaining long before the game was out and it could be said to be justified.
At the time, they failed to use it responsibly. Once its out we can safely try again. Sooner with the right approval.
Hide / Show RepliesThat link mostly talked about negative tropes on the main page. I don't see anything about what is deemed "too negative" for a YMMV page. As long as cautiously worded comments are approved(like, fans have had X reaction from the trailers, etc), the axing of the whole page seems a bit excessive to me.
I am advocating unlocking the Paper Mario Color Splash YMMV page. We're 2 weeks prior to release and have plenty of info to go on by now. We aren't really going to wait until the game launches to reopen the page are we? At this point, tons of negative entries like Tainted by the Preview, Broken Base, Internet Backdraft, Scapegoat Creator, Fandom Heresy, Love It or Hate It and It's the Same, Now It Sucks! are unavoidable. Why delay it any longer?
