I feel that makes sense and that should be added to the character sections too. I can't remember though but does the bios change slightly after you escape from King Boo?
WAH.Is the elevator considered an example of Dynamic Loading? When travelling between floors, Luigi can still move about and perform his moves and it honestly doesn't feel like loading at all. But it technically is loading the next floor, right?
WAH. Hide / Show RepliesIf you watch closely in the mirror, the elevator doesn't take the actual number of floors travelled into account, regardless if it's from the basement to the front desk or right to the fitness center. So I would say, yes.
I don't think Luigi is being a hypocrite when he tries to get Mario to come back to the Lab with him. I think he's thinking that Mario would be safer with E. Gadd and co - but, Mario being Mario, he wants to help rescue Peach.
Hide / Show RepliesThat's what I felt too although I guess it would have been for naught as King Boo simply teleports the lab to the roof later on.
WAH.Isn’t this game darker than the first 2? Sure King Boo doesn’t try to destroy the universe.(Or maybe he does with what he did with the painting.) But Dark Moon is considered lighter than the first game despite the universe almost being destroyed. In this one there are quite a few scary moments, and the setting is very dark and creepy, and there is a terrifying game over scene. So wouldn’t all of this make the game Darker and Edgier?
Hide / Show RepliesPersonally I think it's not just about the stakes, but how a game is presented, especially the atmosphere. Except for the universe destroying-aspect of Dark Moon (Which, by the way, just felt shoehorned in for some cheap drama for me), it was pretty light-hearted with all the funny moments and Luigi's over-the-top fear which just got exaggerated in 3. Though it's still darker than this game, since Nintendo at least tried to make it scary at some points, like the garage (Music!) and security images.
3 on the other hand simply turned into one big comedy-game. All rooms are brightly lit (Yes, including the reception), all ghosts look and behave goofy, Luigi jumps at literally everything and the only somewhat spooky moments are the jumpscares. And as terryfying as the Game Over-screen may be, it has nothing on the first game where we can, I guess, safely say that Luigi is outright killed and nobody is coming to rescue him. Also, what nobody mentioned for some reason, is that King Boo forgot/didn't care to capture Polterpup.
Luigi's Mansion 1 in the end was some sort of Resident Evil for children. Which got toned down with every entry.
Isn't King Boo facing the screen with an evil smile in the game over cutscene considered The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You? Just suggesting.
Hide / Show RepliesPossibly not - partly due to the WMG I had made regarding it should you let him capture Luigi early on.
I also just saw what happens if you lose to King Boo, and there's a clear Story and Gameplay Segregation - they keep the normal Game Over screen, even though at that time, everyone barring Luigi is in a single painting. This feels like a missed opportunity for a Bad Ending Game Over in my eyes, especially with regards to if you lose during the final phase by running out of time. I mean, I seriously would had liked to see the resulting painting of Luigi and co all together - with The Last Resort with them if it was during the third phase. (and maybe King Boo if he wasn't fast enough to dodge - but it's likely that he would had avoided the painting as it sucked up the hotel)
I'm not sure if it should be added as an All There in the Manual trope, but the invite which Hellen sends to Luigi can only be seen properly in the Prologue section of the Guide - https://twitter.com/ah2190/status/1190228844130627584/photo/2 - along with some trivia about Hellen and the Polterpup found in the FAQ section.
