Should we still consider the Komato walking spoilers? Given some appear as soon as sector 3, I feel it's getting a bit ridiculous...

This entry under Shout-Out is being edit warred over:

  • A few weapons resemble Cave Story guns: The Splintergun's fire looks like the one of a Level 2 bubbler an Spread Rockets mimic the Level 3 missile launcher.

Please use this page to discuss whether it's really an example and don't add it back again in the meantime.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. Hide / Show Replies

That is a Zero-Context Example - it needs to go into some detail, at least. So I motion to keep it off the page.

My position (as the one who originally removed it) is that they are not identical and not unique enough to be clearly references (the lvl2 Bubbler in Cave Story is just a standard autofire machinegun weapon with bubbles as shots, whereas the Splintergun's gimmick is that its shots explode; the Spread Rockets actually spread out unlike the lvl3 Missiles in Cave Story, and "a multi-rocket attack" is absurdly common and not connected to these games in particular) so unless there is some statement from Remar that they are indeed connected, it would just seem to be somebody's overactive imagination connecting two famous freeware platformers.

I went to three edits because I thought this was obvious and could be concisely dealt with without the bother of a discussion; if EKonoMai had gone to three reverts as well I'd have brought this up myself. Oh, well.

Any idea of why this happenned?:

"Please do not ask me to put Iji on XBLA, Wii Ware etc. This is technically and legally impossible. Do not ask to publish or otherwise sell my freeware games."

Can we have some details into this?

I remember he said it somewhere, but I don't remember where. I think the bottom line of the technical part is "there is no Game Maker engine there so I'd have to recode it from scratch for the destination platform"

And on the legal part? I was under the impression that Cave Story was ALSO made in Game Maker and end up in the WII

No, Cave Story was coded from scratch in C++.

It could be that some of the resources are things he doesn't have ownership or copyright of, like the cover of "Further" used in the credits.

Whatever happened, I'm pretty sure I didn't do it. Hopefully.

He's stated in a forum post (that I can't find right now) that all the music, voice acting, etc. was done by friends and people he knows, for free. He promised them all that he wouldn't make any money off of it. So, it would be a huge hassle trying to contact all of those people and get their permission to sell it, not to mention the licensing issues, trying to figure out how much of the money goes to each person, etc.

We've now got a duplication going on regarding the Iji MSPFA. There's two entries for it - one in Fan Fic Recommendations and one in Webcomics/Iji.

It seems kind of sloppy to have both pages. I think we should delete the Webcomics/Iji one, since:

1) it's possible there may be more Iji fanfics out there that we haven't found or made yet

2) the MSPFA isn't an official adaptation of Iji to webcomic format by the author.

I don't see a problem. The Fanfic Recommendations is for links to fanfics, while the page is for tropes it uses.

I wonder what's for dinner?

This still keeps cropping up:

  1. Les Yay: The Journal Writer is very hot for Iji, and if Iosa kills her, Iji assimilates her nanofield to keep a part of her warm forever.

There's no evidence that the Journal Writer is hot for Iji. In Sector 4 there's a logbook written by Scout UT 827:IFOP expressing a crush on Iji, but he/she is not the Journal Writer (they have different ranks and callsigns). It's also not necessarily Les Yay, since Scout UT 827's gender is unknown, so I'm cutting this entry altogether. (The part about keeping part of the Journal Writer's nanofield warm is already mentioned elsewhere on the page anyway.)

To whomever removed my Fridge Brilliance entry: I hadn't unlocked the Scrambler yet, and under the Silliness Switch entry, I thought it said all logbooks had "indecipherable scribbles". Sorry for the inconvenience.
